I've joined the team at Zephyr Point Conference Center near Lake Tahoe

As some have heard, Zephyr Point Conference Center just announced on FB, IG, and BSky that I have joined the team as their Church Relations and Development Officer. Located in Zephyr Cove, NV, just past South Lake Tahoe and on the banks of Lake Tahoe, I am thrilled to begin my time with them.

I grew up attending Zephyr Point Conference Center, which has been the backdrop for my spiritual formation for a long time. Like many church camps and conference centers, it has experienced the peaks and valleys of program and sustainability, but today, this place is thriving and I could not be more excited about the future of my childhood conference center! Not only are the facilities (cabins and lodges) lovely and getting lovelier, but the focus and vision to be a place where God’s expansive spirit is known and fully integrated into its operations and program brings me so much joy.

The story is not a difficult one to tell.

While I was not looking for another steady gig (this is part-time, contracted, and remote) when I was approached about the possibility of helping Zephyr re/connect with the church and its supporters, it was not a difficult sell. And while this may be the most formal title I have held in a wee bit, I see this as another extension of my greatest passion, storytelling.

Some of what I’ll be doing:

• Storytelling through reflection writing, video creation, and in-person engagement

• Connecting with current supporters and donors

• Developing relationships with potential new supporters and donors

• Exploring creative sources of support, funding, and engagement

Greetings, my name is Bruce Reyes-Chow and I am currently standing in front of Lake Tahoe on the grounds of Zephyr Point Conference Center in Zephyr Cove, Nevada.

Like many people for whom camps and conferences have played a meaningful role in their lives, Zephyr Point Conference Center played a huge role in developing my own Christian faith, deepening my experience of community, exposing me to the beauty of creation, and encouraging me to engage in the work of justice.

And as things often do, life and ministry have come full circle as I've just joined the team as their Church Relations and Development Officer.

I'm excited to join the Zephyr Point team, not only because this place played such a significant role in my own faith formation, but also because Zephyr Point is deeply committed to being a place of curiosity, belonging, and justice that exudes the healing and expansive love of God that is so needed during these turbulent times.

Plus, the view is not terrible.
